Being a first time mom can be scary and exciting all at once! Here’s a few tips to remember:
1) Have support – having friends and family (especially other moms) to talk to is a huge help! You’ll want to talk about your symptoms, your expectations and your fears with people.
2) Research – get a book or get on Google and learn as much as you can about pregnancy. It’s helpful to know what to expect. You’ll constantly be wondering what’s normal and what isn’t – knowledge is power! Also, know what your diet should and shouldn’t entail!
3) Prepare – you’ll need maternity clothes, so go ahead and get those ready. Then, you’ll need to get the baby all set up with plenty of clothes, burp rags, accessories and necessities! Creating a registry ahead of time is particularly helpful.
4) Choose your provider – stick with the provider you feel comfortable with. Ask as many questions as possible and understand what needs to be done before you’re admitted for labor & delivery.
5) Enjoy – pregnancy is an amazing time in life – cherish it as much as possible! Take time to rest and daydream. Don’t forget to do things for yourself – the little things can make a big difference. Know ahead of time that people are going to be extra helpful and friendly – even strangers! They’ll open doors, let you skip in line and let you eat as much as you want without commenting.
